Masamba Samba School is Ireland’s premier Latin percussion collective, and has been in existence since 1994.

Masamba is a community music initiative, and has always had a strong ethos of passing on the rhythms to anyone willing to learn. Each year, Masamba delivered over 400 workshops, mainly in primary schools, but also in secondary schools, universities, youth clubs, adult education settings, etc.

Masamba’s Musical Director, Simeon Smith, is currently onthe faculty of the University of Limerick, and teaches occasional workshops in DCU St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, as well as completing a PhD on his percussion workshops in schools.
Participants will be guided through the development of some of the rhythms Masamba has tried and tested with children of all ages.
